A popular item has appeared in the health food marketing industry that offers healthy, wholesome, nutrient packed naturally grown product. „Superfruit” is the word that is used to describe these super healthy fruits that pack a punch of beneficial natural goodness.
Superfruits are the kind of fruits that are nutrient rich, high in antioxidants, positively affect cell or organ function, ability to be modified to improve nutrient composition, amount of medical research done, and potential to prevent or lower risk of disease. That's quite a bill to fit, but many fruits do! However, some popular fruits like oranges, strawberries and blackberries are not called superfruits, as there is no need to market them, but they still fit into the category by many of its definitions.

These bright orange-red fruits have previously been known as wolfberries and come from the north-central and western regions of China. Because they are so rich in nutrients, there is no question that these little berries provide many health benefits. Products that contain the goji berries nutrition make many claims about the health benefits that they provide. Some of these include protecting the liver, preventing diseases of the eye and improving eyesight, strengthening the legs and other muscles, promoting longevity, improving circulation, boosting the immune system and many other, depending on which product you are reading.
Although many of these claims about goji berries nutrition and their benefits date back hundreds of years from ancient use by Chinese herbalists, there has been little research conducted to back these claims. This means that currently, you have to take all the claims you read with a grain of salt (hope it won't increase your blood pressure!). There is no specific evidence to verify them. However, many of the claims are known benefits of some of the nutrients that the berries contain.
Whether or not the specific health benefits are all completely accurate, there is no question that goji berries are a fantastic fruit to eat if you want to improve your health. Eating them every day may not make you live to the age of 252, as the myth goes about Li Qing Yuen, but they can improve your health and contribute to a more fulfilling life!
